Beat inflammation with this smoothie

As Dr. Sebi long said when he was on this earth, all disease begins with inflammation.

It wasn't until recently that modern research has come to learn this truth as well.

For example:

  • We now know that depression is not solely a chemical disorder but an inflammatory one as well

  • Auto-immune diseases like Lupus are inflammatory in nature

  • Inflammation in the gut has a direct impact on our immune system

  • Fragrances and toxins in our beauty and cleaning products create inflammation in our endocrine (hormone) system

This smoothie has been helpful for me the past week or so battling some inflammation in my skin and digestive tract.

PREP TIME: 5 minutes | COOK TIME: 1-2 minutes | SERVES: approximately one 32oz smoothie

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups organic frozen tropical fruit (mangoes, pineapple, strawberries, bananas)

  • 16oz water (I used Harmless brand coconut water)

  • 1 tbsp ground turmeric (with activated curcumin - this bring this anti-inflammatory punch! - and black pepper - this activates the curcumin)

  • 2 inches of fresh ginger root, roughly cut

  • 3 tbsp of chia seeds

  • 1 tbsp barley grass juice powder

  • 1 tsp baobab powder (optional)

  • NOTE: I love the bitter taste of turmeric. If you don’t, you can add some agave or honey to taste to counteract the bitterness.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Blend on high speed until smooth. Pour into a 32oz glass and enjoy!
